Christmas Festival in Mandaue City picks up the Cebuano tradition of a
pamukaw (Diana) and a lantern parade with daygon in the city streets
namely Guizo, Looc, Ibabao and Centro Tribunal with merriment to the
tune of the Christmas carols with a daygon contingent converging at the
heritage square fronting the church and the historic city hall.
The Christmas story will unfold as the Nativity tableau of
Bethlehem composed of lanterns made of farm animals lighting the way for
the coming of the savior Jesus Christ. At
the eve of the Misa de Gallo where at 11:00 in the evening is the
culmination of the Paskuhan sa Mandaue and will be followed by the
lighting of the giant Christmas Tree with 27 symbolic balls represented
by the 27 barangays.
At the strike of midnight, the giant Christmas Tree located at
the center of the Heritage Square will be lighted by the special guest
of honor Governor Gwen Garcia assisted by the first couple Mayor Teddy
and Linda Ouano and his councilors.
This would be followed by the welcome address of Mayor Teddy
Ouano, the Christmas blessing and prayer with Monsignor Adelito Abella
and an inspirational message from first lady Governor of Cebu Gwen
Garcia.
Then, fireworks with awesome figures and designs, symbols of joy
and happiness, a celebration of thanksgiving for Mandaue City for its
bounty and safety for year 2004 and welcome to a new year 2005. Paskuhan
sa Mandaue City has been a Christmas Festival tradition in Mandaue.
This year 2004, Mandaue City formally launching the paskong pinoy
in a more dynamic, vibrant, entertainment that centers on the Filipino
family celebration as Paskong Pinoy.
The Mandauehanons will be treated with a nine days Christmas
festival at the Heritage Square. |

SAYONG PINASKUHAN GIKAN NI MAYOR TEDDY
OUANO
On
December 8, 2004, Mandaue City launches its Christmas Festival with “Sayong
Pinaskuhan Gikan ni Mayor Teddy”.
As in the Santa Claus tradition, sayong pinaskuhan is
giving bundles of joy such as: mobile
dental health team will be available to check dental care, toothbrushes
and toothpastes will be given to children in day care centers, sports
equipment such as two pairs of ball
of basketball and volleyball will be given to every barangays together
with a tent, tables and 100 chairs for its multi purpose usage such as
fiestas, weddings, baptism and barangay meetings.
The senior citizens of these barangays will be a recipient of
vitamins and other medicines. Together
with Mayor Teddy Ouano are his councilors and health care officers in
his visits to the barangays. You
